Important News On FTF

After almost 4 years of groundbreaking work and a legal challenge FTF are to merge with HACAN to become HACAN East London. FTF are honoured to be able to merge with HACAN who have a strong campaign history in ensuring that residents are represented fairly in all issues of aviation expansion and the associated environmental and health impacts.

The merger will happen during this month (July 2011). Members of FTF will be contacted with further information regarding the merger and who their main contact will be. The FTF website, Facebook and Twitter pages will be closed during July, however the FTF blog will remain open as a resource to all campaigners and to HACAN East London.

FTF would like to thank all of you whom were from us from the very beginning, those who joined us along the journey and will look forward to your continued support through HACAN East London.

FTF High Court Challenge - This Thursday

The hearing for the legal challenge against Newham Council in regard of the approval to allow London City Airport to expand to 120,000 flights per year is to take place this thursday:

18-19th November 2010, expected start time of the hearing  is 10.30am for 1,1/2 days.

There are three aspects to Fight the Flights claim. In summary they are:

(1) that Newham failed to have regard to the Government’s policy on climate change and aviation;

(2) that Newham failed to consult relevant neighbouring local authorities; and

(3) Newham failed to consult the residents of those boroughs.

FTF: The 'Intelligent' website and blog

We are sure our supporters will be pleased to hear that this blog and our fantastic new FTF website have flatteringly been called 'intelligent'.

And the individual who so kindly paid the compliment? Dave Hill of the Guardian in his London Blog. So a BIG thanks to Dave for the compliment!

Now what did that PR 'employee' of London City Airport say about our blog just over a year ago....something about 'tabloid sensationalism'. Once again, London City Airport got it all wrong. If they had ever read a broadsheet, they'd have known.
